Edinburgh Fringe 2025: Gordon Buchanan at The Stand (August 19, 2-3pm)

It’s Edinburgh’s legendary Stand Comedy Club’s 30th birthday this year, and I'm thrilled to be bringing A Kick Up The Arts to the Fringe for a week of lunchtime live podcast shows as part of their celebrations - including one-hour conversations with special guests Del Amitri’s Justin Currie (August 23rd); stage, screen and music icon Barbara Dickson (August 20th); actor, broadcaster and panto villain(ess) Grant Stott (August 21st); and actor, comedian, and Scotland’s most infamous (Boabby the) barman - Still Game’s Gavin Mitchell - (August 18th) - with more to be announced in the coming weeks.

Tickets are on-sale now, the full run is August 18-24 (not 22), 2-3pm, and you should basically come to all of the shows. I MEAN what better way to spend a late lunch hour in the late summer. Five-minute walk from Waverley Station. I'll get the kettle on and the macaroni pies in. If I'm allowed.

And yes! On August 19th, 2-3pm, award-winning wildlife cameraman, film-maker, presenter, lion-tamer, and a man who's been hailed as "Scotland's David Attenborough", Gordon Buchanan reflects on his life and work, and discusses his remarkable memoir, In The Hide. He'll also chat about his choice of a favourite Scottish album, film and book - and tell us what they mean to him. There are no guarantees that he'll bring along lions, tigers and bears - let alone camels - but then again, you never know...

Come hang out for a festival afternoon with us! Tickets here!
